Mountain Fuel are delighted to support this series of events based in the North West of England. To enter these races visit www.trail26.com
The events take place at;
Grizedale – Forest half and full marathon (Trail)
The route on the first loop is a mixture of gravel, trail path and fire roads which wind their way through the pine trees of Grizedale Forest, together with some open grassy sections which provide a stunning view of Coniston Water. Generally the first loop is well drained but if we have a British Winter there is a chance of mud!
The route on the second loop is bit more technical underfoot with more uneven terrain, boggy areas, open fields and some small sections of road. It will be all worth it when you finally catch sight of Lake Windermere.
The Grizedale trail running event can be classed as “lumpy” (Trail 26 code for “it’s a tad hilly”). There are significant climbs on both the Trail 13 half marathon course and the Trail 26 marathon course to test even the most hardened of trail runners.
Howgills – half and full marathon (Mountain Running)
The Howgills trail running event is another fine example of one of our “lumpy” events (Trail 26 code for “it’s a tad hilly). With between 700m to 1000m of climbing dependant on which trail race you choose there is something to test even the most hardened of trail runners. The wind can be very strong out on the hills and temperature can drop quickly. The descents are grassy and can get quite slippy which makes for a technical and fun race.
Delamere – half marathon and 10k (Trail)
The routes are on forest trail which is mostly well compacted, however we do take you out into the wilds where you will find some more rocky/stony terrain together with good old fashioned tree roots and lots of glorious mud, giving you a varied and fun race.
Dalemain – 10k
The trail running race is a 10k course that consists of two different loops in a ‘figure of 8’. The run starts with a gentle but lengthy climb over the Estate fields that will warm you up. You will then steadily descend towards Dacre, over the river and towards the start of loop 2. As you start loop 2 you will meander through the Estates lower fields and then through the small village of Dacre before returning back to the finish line.
The course is very much like a cross country run. You will be running across the luscious Dalemain Farmland together with a small section on the road and farm track. It is mainly grassy fields with a few stiles thrown in. You will definitely spot a lot of sheep and, if you’re lucky, there are some very beautiful deer out there too.
The mission for Trail 26 events is simply to encourage runners of all ages and ability to take part in trail running events. We provide the opportunity for you to start with the 10k distance, progress to half marathon and eventually, the full marathon distance. All of our events have a friendly atmosphere, great routes and are organised to the highest level of quality. We are family friendly and all our events include a Trail Kidz 1K challenge, free to enter with medals for all children
