It was another busy weekend for our Mountain Fuel ambassadors, as organised racing is finally back on the agenda!

It was smiles all round at the Hardmoors 110 & 160 Ultra Events, with a clean sweep in both races. The routes follow the stunning Cleveland Way Heritage Trail, visiting the seaside resort of Scarborough, the old smuggling town of Robin Hood’s Bay, Dracula’s Whitby, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Saltburn, passing through the beautiful Cleveland Hills and the North York Moors, before finishing in the market town of Helmsley.

The inspirational Paul Nelson continued his rich vein of form with an emphatic win and a new CR in the 160 mile race, leading from start to finish. Not wanting to be upstaged by his MountainFuel teammate, Jacob Snochowski also repeated the same feat with another win and CR in the 110 mile event.

To cap off an incredible day, Claire Howard and Emily Beaumont, both produced equally outstanding performances, winning the 110 and 160 races respectively. Our athletes all worked incredibly hard for their victories and we’re extremely delighted and very proud to have fuelled them along the way.

Turning our attention to Europe, two of our top elite mountain runners, Katie Kaars Sijpesteijn and George Foster were competing in the Matterhorn Ultraks event in Switzerland last weekend.

First up was Katie, who finished 4th (only 50 secs off the podium) in the Sky race (49km with 3600m of climb) against a high-class field.

In the Mountain race (32km with 2000m of climb), big George Foster made a glorious return to racing after recovering from a long-term injury. He claimed an outstanding 2nd place finish, after enjoying an epic battle with his Scott Running teammate, Dan Haworth. Dan finished 3rd for the second day in a row, after making the podium the previous day in the VK race.

Elsewhere in Europe, Henriette Albon, was 2nd in the Moon Valley Run Festival. She once again showed her class, racing on steep and technical terrain in the wild mountains of Norway.

A little closer to home, cyclist Jonathan Shubert, arguably producing one of the performances of his career so far, competing in the British National 12 hour Time Trial. Despite the testing conditions he finished in an outstanding 3rd place, covering an incredible 292.5 miles and earning himself a shiny new bronze medal in the process.

After the race Jonathan said, “Over the moon with the result! The field was stacked; Brian Fogarty who came 2nd won Ironman UK last year and Adam Wild has been unbeatable this year and I was only 3 miles shy of his ride. The nutrition Plan was spot on! I was only off the bike for 2 minutes in the 12 hours and had little to no gastric distress and I felt like I was on rocket fuel, definitely one of the best performances I’ve ever had. Massive thanks for all your help in preparing for this.”

The team at Mountain Fuel would like to congratulate all of our customers and ambassadors for their performances, as they continue to inspire us all with their respective achievements.
