What do your muscles need for energy?
Xtreme Energy Fuel is more than just a standard energy drink. Your muscles require more than just a sugar fix or electrolyte blast to work efficiently so we’ve ensured that we include all the essentials vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates to effectively energise and replenish your muscles on the go…
Starting with;
- Vitamin B1 Thiamin
- Vitamin B6
- Niacin
Vitamin B1 Thiamin is vital in many different metabolic pathways, and plays a large role in breaking down carbohydrates. It works to get the energy into a useable form as soon as possible to help you power yourself on.
Vitamin B6 is very similar. It’s involved in over 100 metabolic pathways and is essential in breaking down your food into useable energy (particularly carbohydrates). Meaning it’s perfect to be taken on-the-go during your race.
Your Niacin level dictates how you feel, too much or too little can lead to unpleasant stuff such as diarrhoea and nausea.
Our blend of these 3 ingredients is largely responsible for how easy our stuff is on the stomach, and actually converting the fuel you take on board into real useable energy that’s going to help delay fatigue and hopefully power you to a finish.
Performing At Your Best
As far as actually helping you perform, these are the ingredients that we use help you do that:
Vitamin A acts as an antioxidant during endurance training, making it perfect for all endurance athletes training and race
Creatine is one of the most popular nutritional ergogenic aids for all athletes. Studies have consistently shown that creatine supplementation increases intramuscular creatine concentrations which may help explain the observed improvements in high intensity exercise performance leading to greater training adaptations. Meaning that you get more out of every training and race that you do.
Vitamin E is vital in helping repair your muscles from damage during exercise, this is one of the things that’s unique about Mountain Fuel, we use ingredients within our energy fuels that actually help you recover during your event, so you’ve got more left in the tank to finish, and you don’t have the standard 2 weeks of walking around stiff as a board.
Again, Vitamin C is very similar, it works together with Vitamin E to repair your muscles on the go, and to promote a healthy immune system.
And then we come to Vitamin B2 AKA Riboflavin which plays two huge roles, particularly for endurance athletes…
Firstly, it’s involved in the energy metabolism process. Without adequate Riboflavin, the enzymes needed to break down nutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fats) just don’t function as efficiently. This can lead to feelings of exhaustion and fatigue, something you obviously want to avoid.
The second essential role Riboflavin plays in athletes is enhancing oxygen delivery. Haemoglobin (the protein responsible for transporting oxygen in the body) requires Riboflavin in order to synthesize. Having adequate oxygen transport allows athletes to perform better with less fatigue. The difference in how you feel can be huge, particularly in the longer events.
Glycogen (muscle energy) replenishment
We use a carbohydrate mix that includes simple and complex sugars to deliver fast, yet sustained energy. The mix of dextrose which is chemically identical to glucose / blood sugar provides you with rapid energy replenishment while our use of maltodextrin (derived from plant/vegetable starch) and can help balance intestinal osmolarity (in layman’s terms, easy on the stomach) and deliver a slower, more sustained release of energy when combined with our other ingredients.
