Mountain Fuel Trial Pack

Mountain Fuel can be used as a Sports Nutrition system for any type of physical activity and can if needed fuel you for 24 hour+ events or simply taken individually to suite your energy or recovery needs. Follow this link for Fuelling for Endurance.

Typically in preparation of an event if you wanted to utilise the whole system you would;

1. Mix up a Night Fuel the night before your event with hot milk or water, drinking/sipping (in plenty of time before bed and last loo stop as we would also suggest, as you should have been throughout the last few weeks getting into the habit of sipping water throughout the day / early evening to ensure you are always fully hydrated. Just because you’re asleep does not mean you can’t prepare for your next training session or event, Night Fuel helps you get up raring to go, feeding your body at it’s optimum time of recovery.

2. Morning Fuel  (also available in Gluten Free, add a note when ordering if this is your preference) is mixed into a porridge type consistency  or a shake and can be utilised as a pre-event meal as it is light on the stomach and quickly absorbed, it doesn’t have to be just for breakfast 🙂 you can add seeds, fresh/dried fruit etc and even a small handful of oats if that takes your fancy. However bear in mind you want to start your event primed and ready to go and not with your stomach still working overtime breaking down your big breakfast / meal.

*We are aware of a print error on the ingredients list on our Gluten Free Morning Fuel – the ingredients sat Oat Powder (Gluten),  this is a typo, it should say Gluten Free.

Morning Fuel is extremely versatile and can be used to create fantastic snacks and pre-activity meals. Have a look at our Morning Fuel Power Pancakes which are perfect for getting you going and also while ‘on the go’ along with our home made version of a gel – and our Morning Fuel Banana Flapjacks

3. If possible start sipping, swilling and swallowing your *Xtreme Energy Fuel anything up to four hours before your activity / event. Essentially the slower you drip your fuel into your system the more time the body has to absorb it and maximise performance. Some of our users, if they have had a hard week or are particularly keen on really pushing themselves will also sip, swill and swallow an Xtreme Energy the day before an event too, ensuring their system is alert, primed and ready. Xtreme Energy Fuel gives you a sustained energy release, is easy on the stomach, tastes great and is ideal for hard and fast anaerobic, cardio workouts or equally endurance events. You put the effort in and we’ll power you along.

4. Prepare your Ultimate Recovery Fuel and put it in a cool bag if you are using fresh milk as ideally you want to start sipping it within 20 minutes of finishing your event. However DO NOT drink it too quickly, however nice it may taste as it is the same principle as the Energy drink slowly in the system and the body will have more time to absorb it. Ultimate Recovery Fuel is a drink you want to exercise for! It tastes phenomenal and does what it says, there is no better Recovery product on the market.

Mountain Fuel taster pack“I intended to try Mountain Fuel for the first time in the recent English Championship Fellrace around Duddon Valley. The plan was to try a sachet or two of the Extreme Energy Fuel in addition to my regular bars of choice. On the day I somehow managed to forget to pack my usual stuff into my bumbag and was therefore reliant solely on the untested Mountain Fuel. Everything went well. Mountain Fuel mixed with pure Cumbrian fell water seemed to agree with my system and I felt strong all day, never hungry or lacking in power. I finished higher up the results than any previous Championship race I have completed and will certainly be using Mountain Fuel again for my next long fell event.” Steve Angus – (Winner of Lakeland 50 Ultra and Multiple Marathons)

“I just kept going and going, leaving everyone behind as the ride went on.  It was like a Duracell advert!” Ian Turnbull, cyclist.

“The most important part of my preparation for this race (Ultra Tour of Mont Blanc) was getting my head around the fact that I could get most of my race energy from the Xtreme Energy Fuel. Prior to this, I felt that I needed to throw in gels to get me round my ultra races. I had a particularly bad experience earlier in the year and can trace the problems back to too much gel use. This time I was confident in my nutrition and happy that the Mountain Fuel products would get me round in good shape.”  Dave Troman, Ultra Runner reflecting on his 2014 UTMB (Ultra Tour of Mont Blanc – 166 km +9,600 m of ascent).

“This is the first recovery product I’ve tried that not only tastes amazing but actually works whatever intensity of activity I have done. No more sore legs the next day which is important as when I’m not training I’m on call as a fireman so need to be ready for action!” Paul Maxwell, Fell runner and Triathlete.

Best powder out thereHaving used Mountain Fuel Xtreme Energy Fuel for a number of marathons, ultra-marathons and multi stage events (not to mention in training) I was confident in my choice in taking Mountain Fuel Xtreme Energy Fuel to the 32nd edition of the Marathon Des Sables (2017). I have always found Mountain Fuel Xtreme Energy Fuel to be a great combination of energy source and electrolytes. I took both the blackcurrant and tropical flavours using one each per day. They both tasted great and I had no issues in the heat. Mountain Fuel Xtreme Energy Fuel was easy to mix and very light on the stomach. The MDS is a 150 mile, 6 stage event in the Sahara Desert where competitors are self-sufficient having to carry all their kit and food throughout the race. This means maintaining sufficient hydration and nutrition whilst keeping pack weight to a minimum is of paramount importance. I will happily continue to use Mountain Fuel Xtreme Energy Fuel as my preferred race fuel.

Steve AIntrigued to try it as I had discovered that I was getting fatigued through lack of proper nutrition. So far the sample pack has been very successful and I'm planning my next purchase.

Even works for ploddersFirstly, let me make clear I am not an elite runner... I've been fell running for only a year or so, and enjoy competing in events ranging from 3-mile village fete runs, to 25km slogs. And while I'm not going to be winning anything, I do need to think about fuel in order to maintain pace (and even to finish at all!) in the longer events.

Like many people I had used gels and experienced stomach pains afterwards. They didn't seem to agree with me, and I certainly wouldn't want to use more than one gel during an event. So I decided to try mountainfuel, having read a review by someone who mentioned similar experiences of discomfort using sugary gels.

I bought the taster pack and used the full range before, during and after a 15-mile / 3700 vertical ft race. During the race I also took home-made gels made according to the recipe on the mountainfuel website. I was able to complete the race comfortably and suffer no ill effects the following day - and this was the first time I had run further than a half marathon, on or off road. I certainly felt better than I had in previous 20km events, and best of all there was no stomach pain.

The system worked for me. In similar events in future I think I'll try the 'power pancakes' in addition to the energy drink. I won't be using the full range for short runs, but for 15km+ this suits me more than any other combination I've tried.

Sceptic to devoteeIl be honest I am not a supplement or sachet kind of gal! On my ultras I like real good food like scotch eggs and sausage rolls and flat coke but I was given a sachet at a lakeland recce. Like a lot of freebies it sat in my ultra tub of rubbish and I never got round to using it. I'd heard good things about this stuff and if Lakeland race was happynto have its name agaibstbit I trusted their judgement !!!!! So at just £12 for the taster pack there was no harm in trying it !!

    Well I am converted !!!!

I tried it one weekend where I had a marathon on saturday and a 26 mile lake recce Sunday and used the night time breakfasts sachets before both and then the drinks on route and the recovery after.

I found I didn't need any other food or intake on both races and felt amazing and performed well.

I even recovered better than ever had before with no post event energy dip and much less doms!!

Thought it may have been fluke so tried it again in two more ultras the same regime and it bore the same results !!! No fluke !!!

One more ultra to go this year in the lakes and no prizes for guessing what I will be fuelling with !!

I am converted from a sceptic to a devotee !!!!!

And asked santa for bulk package deal for Xmas on the products !!
Have to say the night time chocolate drink is better than any shop bought or cafe bought hot drink ever !!!!!!!!
