As we all know most races start super early! This is a great go to when those pre races nerves and lack of hunger strikes early doors. Sling it in a shaker, give it a good old shake then get it down you. The Perfect pre race fuel for all round events.

I’ve used the morning fuel 3 times so far all for cross county or fell runs over 15 miles. Each time I have felt good all the way through the run. I am going to stick with it as I have found something that works for me. Recommend highly.

Energy drinks abound. This one is different. The taste is light and clean. More importantly it’s the only stuff that keeps me going on longer runs and also gives me that extra boost for speed sessions. A great find!

I only found out about this product from a post on facebook. What a find! Bit sceptical to start with as I’d never heard of Mountain Fuel before so I tested it for the first time doing the Fred Whitton Challenge this year (also first time). Heated it up in a microwave with milk & was very easy to drink (& tasty). Didn’t have anything else to eat and it got me through the few few hours with no problems. I now have a stock which I keep for special occasions (big runs, big rides or when I need some fuel quick to go). Would highly recommend .

First used Mountain Fuel ( tropical ) during the Millennium Way Ultra. No cramp, like I usually get, and really easy on the stomach. So easy in fact, that i used only Mountain Fuel for whole of the Canalathon 100. Now its my go to drink whenever i race. From 10k to ultras. It works for me. Try it.

Before mountain fuel i only used gels for energy during races but started using mountain fuel during training for the Lakeland 50 last summer. I really noticed a difference in energy levels which were far more consistent through out my runs. Digestion was also much kinder on my stomach no GI issues. Over the longer distances i noticed less fatigue to my muscles. Yes my legs still hurt after 50 miles in the mountains i’d expect them to but my calves were still firing well when in past events they hadn’t. I put this in some way down to the formula in mountain fuel (salts, amino acids and creatine etc) so I’ll definitely be using it again for ultra races as it really worked for me.

I have been using Morning Fuel for a few years now, and find it to be a useful versatile energy source. I have used it as a breakfast on overnight trips into the mountains. As a military paramedic I have also used it whilst working, on occasions when what started as a quick patrol or casualty recovery mission turn into an extended time out on the ground. Weight and pack size are so important when deciding what to carry on ops. I now permanently have a sachet of this and the extreme energy fuel in my belt kit. This is far superior in nutritional content to anything that is in an issued ration pack. A quick simple way of refuelling to keep me mentally and physically performing, when lives depend on it.

Worked very well on long races and events – fan dance, tough guy, tabs, the suffering etc.
I’ve struggled with gels and food on events lasting longer than 2hrs but found MF easy to take on board and digest with no stomach upsets.
The tropical flavour isn’t too sweet or overpowering either.

Started using this (and the whole system) this year for Ultras. Brilliant. Easy to drink even late on when feeling sick, when you have got to the stage when gels etc are just impossible to keep down. Would highly recommend it for long distance running.

I stumbled across the Mountain Fuel website by chance although it did ring a bell with me as it turns out a mate who competes at an elite level in extreme triathlon events, already uses and loves their products.

What struck me as a difference to other sports nutrition products was their love of the outdoors, passion for the sports and their belief in nutritionally balanced supplements with no dirty sugar spikes (and crashes!). Competing as a triathlete I’ve always struggled with getting nutrition right and to this day I’ll admit that I’ve yet to finish a race (or big training session) thinking to myself that I’ve nailed it.

Firstly top customer service. After some timely and helpful emails back and forth with the team I quickly received a sample pack on the other side of the world which luckily coincided with a planned couple of days of hot, hilly riding on the coastal and desert roads of Oman. Not an ideal time to test brand new products out but what the hell I thought I’d go all in and try their 4 level system anyway.

Starting the night before I took the night fuel, having just finished a good block of training I was feeling it in my body so thought I’d try maximize feeling as fresh as I could the next day. The morning fuel tasted similar to a sweet oat type shake I’d make anyway and although content wise it contained less carbs than I’d normally take in on a breakfast I was still in mind to go all in with their products and see what happened. Prior to heading out to ride I sipped on one sachet of the extreme energy fuel in 750ml of water during the hour before.

Over the course of the 2 days I rode over 200 miles in temperatures above 85 degrees including alot of climbing. Normally I’d try get 80-90 grams of carbs in me every hour through a mixture of drinks and gels however on this occasion I went purely on feel and listening to my body. The result being I used a fraction of what I would of if i’d ‘planned’ my nutrition for those 2 days however I never felt a dip in energy or the need to reach in my back pocket and suck on any of the gels that’d i’d brought with me anyway incase my little experiment all went wrong! Ultimate recovery fuel when i finished and I was good to go again the next day.

So overall what are my thoughts? I went into these rides using the MF products on the back on nothing but 60-90 min Wattbike sessions several times a week over the last few months due to work commitments. The legs were feeling pretty strong and I’ve also trained on nothing but water over the last 2 months in an effort to try tap into the bodies fat supply for fuel. I’m sure this contributed to how strong I felt on those days however I can categorically say that the mountain fuel products did aswell. Feeling strong, I felt steady, energy levels weren’t up and down and I never had to reach for that gel to top up, that’s never happened before.

So I’ll be trying the products again for sure. I’ll be racing several on the more extreme triathlons in 2017 in the UK and if I’m to have the success that I want at them, getting my nutrition nailed and finding something that works for me and my needs, is going to be the difference between achieving what i want to and being successful or not. I have a good feeling about MF products and I see no reason why they might not be my nutrtion of choice for the 2017 season. Cheers guys.

ps – I’m not one for writing product reviews as I generally find nothing really stands out enough to warrant them, I generally can’t be assed and it doesn’t really make a difference to me if it means I save a few quid by writing some words. If I like something , I’ll buy it anyway so the fact that I’ve taken the time to leave a review speaks volumes, probably more than the words above themselves ? #justdostuff

I’ve used MF extreme twice with very positive notable differences in my performance during the HM60 & Lyke Wake Races. Sipping it from start to finish along with water and Chia Charge bars. Not only that but i also felt it kept me more alert and less tired than in previous races without using MF extreme.
Great product, works me and would highly recommend.

Since using extreme energy fuel find I have a lot more energy and don’t have to eat as much, you also don’t have to drink that much of it even on long ultras also it tastes good!!

Used the xtreme energy fuel during my successful Bob Graham round in October. Easy to drink and dose what it says gives you energy. Nice taste and both the tropical and black current great. Definitely be using them on the Spine race in January!

I really struggle with eating and drinking whilst running and have found this product to be an excellent way of getting fluid and calories on board on ultra distance events. It is not too sweet and tastes great.

Firstly, let me make clear I am not an elite runner… I’ve been fell running for only a year or so, and enjoy competing in events ranging from 3-mile village fete runs, to 25km slogs. And while I’m not going to be winning anything, I do need to think about fuel in order to maintain pace (and even to finish at all!) in the longer events.

Like many people I had used gels and experienced stomach pains afterwards. They didn’t seem to agree with me, and I certainly wouldn’t want to use more than one gel during an event. So I decided to try mountainfuel, having read a review by someone who mentioned similar experiences of discomfort using sugary gels.

I bought the taster pack and used the full range before, during and after a 15-mile / 3700 vertical ft race. During the race I also took home-made gels made according to the recipe on the mountainfuel website. I was able to complete the race comfortably and suffer no ill effects the following day – and this was the first time I had run further than a half marathon, on or off road. I certainly felt better than I had in previous 20km events, and best of all there was no stomach pain.

The system worked for me. In similar events in future I think I’ll try the ‘power pancakes’ in addition to the energy drink. I won’t be using the full range for short runs, but for 15km+ this suits me more than any other combination I’ve tried.

After speaking to Rupert regarding the products I decided to sample the fuel system on a recent 23 mile run on the Pennine Way and was impressed with the way the fuelling system complemented my usual way of fuelling with solid foods. I had the morning fuel for breakfast and the extreme energy drink through the run as well as tuna pitta and an energy bar. This kept me well fuelled throughout the run. But what I was most impressed with was the night fuel which I had later that night before bed. In the morning I ran my normal 8 mile commute to work completely full of energy despite the testing 23 mile run the day before. I will be using the mountain fuel products as part of my refuelling strategy in future ultra events. I am not alone in suffering from IBS so have to be careful what I consume especially on a long run but I had no problems with mountain fuel and they taste great to boot.

I have tried multiple different brands like SIS, Torq and Arbonne. But MF is by fair and away the best recovery drink I have used – taste is great, you don’t get that chalky-ness that you get with some brands and is good on the stomach (my wife can vouch for that).

I am not looking to change from this, and would recommend trying it.

I have used this in the shake and pancake format, both of which (for different reasons) have had some real positive effects on my rides whether race or social. As far as the shake goes, definitely give it some time to digest, wouldn’t recommend riding straight after drinking – but you will fill like you have bundles of energy.

Not just during the ride, but feel less fatigued and energy depleted after rides due to being fully loaded before.

Bite size pancakes are a great alternative to bars and gels

    Highly recommended
