Juniper Trust
Patron: Sir Chris Bonington
The Juniper Trust was founded in 1994 by a group of volunteers, inspired by writer and teacher Angela Locke. Since those early beginnings, JT has expanded hugely, supporting projects across the world, but its basic vision remains the same as it was at the start: to work in a low-impact, sustainable way to support the poorest communities, particularly children, listening to community needs in the developing world and working in equal partnership.
KE has been actively involved with the Trust since its early days and has helped it grow from its humble beginnings to the respected charity that it has become. JT’s work in Nepal has mainly been education based, providing funds for the renovation of three schools in Kathmandu and more recently to supporting the Adarsha Bal Vikas Kendra School for physically and mentally handicapped children. Nepal was a springboard for the Juniper Trust and by making full use of KE’s network of leaders and agents, the Trust has been able to reach out and help projects across the world with virtually no administration costs or expenses, one of the key attributes of the charity.
